Hundreds of community members gathered outside of Kristi Noem’s recent press conference at the Bishop Whipple federal building in Minneapolis on October 24th, 2025 to defend immigrant neighbors and protest the presence of ICE in the city.
Announced with short notice, Noem was in Minneapolis to detail ICE activity in breaking up alleged criminal activity. Minneapolis has yet to see the full-scale invasion of the city by the government’s gestapo forces that cities like Chicago and Los Angeles are experiencing, but community members are bracing for their increased presence. In June, a large multi-agency raid including ICE took place at a local taqueria and raised questions about the Minneapolis Police Department’s cooperation.
The protest, organized by immigrants rights groups, interfaith coalitions and local organizers, made clear that Minneapolis stands in solidarity with its immigrant population.
